114 LOWERHOUSE - Obus Pienaar (SA) Lowerhouse professional for the 2020 season is South African Obus Pienaar. Obus is an exciting right handed batsmen and slow left arm orthodox spin bowler. In South African First Class Cricket, where Obus represents the Knights Franchise, he boasts 5413 runs at an average of 44.7 and best of 212. His bowling has captured 116 wickets at 27’s with a best of 5/27. At the end of the 2018/19 season Obus was named South Western Districts Player of the Year. Obus, who is no stranger to league cricket in this country will be joining Lowerhouse after a stellar season with Belfast based CIYMS. CIYMS won the NCU Premier League, NCU Challenge Cup and T20 competitions. Obus himself recorded leagues best bowling figures in 2019 with 6-29 Over in Ireland Obus also holds a league record 244 for Warringstown in 2011, breaking the previous record set by AB Deviliers. On these shores Obus boasts a Northern League title and T20 title with Netherfield in 2017 and a Lincolnshire Premier League batting record having plundered 1507 runs at an average of 107 for Sleaford in 2016. MIDDLETON - James Price (SA) James is a English based South African from Port Elizabeth. Former regular for East Province. An explosive batter and a Medium/Fast bowler. Scored over 1,000 runs and took 50 wickets to help Colne win the 2nd Division title last year. Everyone at Middleton are delighted to welcome James to Towncroft and are looking forward to watching him this year. NELSON - Saliya Saman (SL) Nelson CC are delighted to have signed Saliya Saman for the 2020 season. Sammy is an attacking middle order batsman and fast medium opening bowler. Sammy arrives having plenty of league cricket experience in the UK, last year at Colwyn Bay. Previous sub pro performances in the Lancashire League saw Sammy hit two centuries in as many game for Ramsbottom. Back in Sri Lanka Sammy plays for Saracens Sports Club and has 3500 first class runs at an average of 28 along with 217 wickets at an average of 25. All at Nelson CC wish Sammy a successful 2020 season. NORDEN - Jake Sandham Jake Sandham will be in his third season as Norden professional. At the time this was written, with one club still to announce their choice, Jake would be the only English professional in the league for the 2020 season. He was previously an amateur with Monton and Weaste, and a regular in representative teams. He picked up three wickets as Norden won the LCF knockout final last year, impressing watching Lancashire County officials with his pace.
