116 ROCHDALE - Chirag Khurana (I) Rochdale have signed 28 years old Indian, Chirag Khurana for the 2020 season. Chirag, an all rounder, is a right hand batsman and off spin bowler who plays for Mararashtra in the Ranji Trophy. In Indian First Class Cricket Chirag has scored over 3000 runs at an average of 34, and taken 120 wickets. He is also experienced in League Cricket in Lancashire having spent four seasons at Royton, two in the Pennine League then two in the GMCL. He was particularly successful with the bat at the Paddock, scoring over 4000 runs in his time there. TODMORDEN - Kelly Smutts (SA) Our 2020 professional is Kelly Royce Smuts from South Africa. Kelly is familiar to the league having previously played for Rishton and ourselves in 2017 where he broke the league batting record with his 211 against Enfield at Centre Vale. Smuts is a genuine all rounder who will pose a threat to all teams and will hit the ground running as he knows the league well. Kelly has almost 5,000 first class runs and has taken over 100 first class wickets. Kelly made history in 2016 when he became the first player to score a century and take 13 wickets in a first class match in South Africa, whilst playing against Boland. WALSDEN - Umesh Karunaratne (Sri Lanka) The 2020 season will see Umesh enter his seventh consecutive term as Walsden pro. The 31 year old off spinner and aggressive middle order batter has now scored over 5000 first class & list A runs and taken over 280 first class & list A wickets in Sri Lankan cricket. In his previous six seasons at Walsden he has now scored 4416 runs and taken 432 wickets (excl T20). During his time Walsden have won 3 league championships including the Lancashire League and the Wood Cup in the CLL.
