The first ever runners up in the JW Lees Lancashire League Division Two for 2019 were Middleton Cricket Club, Colne led the way and were well served by professional James Price with 1019 runs and 50 wickets. John Lambert and Andy Hakin took 39 and 34 wickets respectively and Kenton Rhodes was top amateur with the bat on 486 runs and Chris Walton and Adam Procter contributed 256 and 206, all of which contributed to Colne becoming the inaugural winners of the JW Lees Division Two Championship Trophy. The Second Eleven competition played under the same format as the first teams and promotion and relegation applied here too. In Division One there was a reversal of fortunes with Clitheroe taking the Championship from the 2018 champions Walsden. For Walsden Jonathan Lord led the way with 580 runs from 18 innings and Junaid Khan made 403 runs. With the ball Mubashar Khan and Shakir Hussain led the way with 37 wickets apiece. For Clitheroe, Skipper Danny Turner made most runs with 311 supported by Paul Gaskell 259 and Alan Lones 217. Saud Ahmed took an impressive 69 wickets with a best of 8 for 19 and Assad Mehmood took 31 with a best of 8 for 14 and Graeme Kershaw took 26. The second eleven Division Two Championship was won by Haslingden and Runners up were Lowerhouse. For Lowerhouse Phil Haggerty and Lewis Marsden led the way with 243 and 227 runs and Matt Hope And Declan Stansfield had 37 and 27 wickets respectively. For Champions Haslingden the main contributors with the bat were Jeff Stanton with 256, Matthew Sudworth 255 and Nathan Thornton 229. With the ball Tom Horrocks took 42 wickets and skipper Tom Richards and Joe Blomley weighed in with 27 and 24 respectively. The JWLees Worsley Cup preliminary round saw wins for Burnley, Darwen, Church, East Lancs, Littleborough, Accrington, Rochdale & Todmorden. The next round saw Burnley, Clitheroe, Darwen, Ramsbottom, Walsden, Todmorden, Colne and Rochdale progress to the quarter finals. In the Quarter finals there were wins for Rochdale, Todmorden, Darwen and Clitheroe which produced semi finals at Rochdale and Todmorden. Rochdale hosted Darwen and restricted Darwen to a total of 154, mainly thanks to Olly Makin taking 4 /19 from his 10 overs. Ammer Mirza with 44, top scored for Darwen.
