Lancashire League Handbook 2020

22 Malik 4/14 as Darwen slumped to 55 all out and Norden were winners of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation Knockout Trophy. Four amateurs scored centuries in the First Division and one batsman, Denis Louis of Crompton, scored three, The others were Levi Wolfenden of Church, Sam Mulligan of Clitheroe and Liam Bedford of Burnley. There were also four amateur century makers in Division Two, LewisWright of Enfield Clinton Perren of Littleborough, Matthew Griffin of Haslingden and David Crotty of Nelson. Most runs by a professional in Division One were scored by Umesh Karunaratne of Walsden with 575 and in Division Two, James Price of Colne made 1019 league runs, closely followed by Mansoor Amjad of Colne with 1001. The Division Two batting award was won by Clinton Perren of Littleborough with 569 runs and a top score of 110 not, and 3 fifties. Denis Louis of Crompton took the Division One batting award, he scored three centuries, all on his home ground, 119 not out against Norden, 134 against Walsden and 140 against Church, added to that were a couple of other fifties as he made a total of 775 runs, The professionals with most wickets were, Division One, Umesh Karunaratne of Walsden with 56 and in Division Two Sachithra Serasinghe of Bacup who took 59. The Division two bowling award went to Dale Highton of Middleton Cricket Club, who took 59 wickets at an average of 11.42 with a best of 5 for 15. In Division One top place again went to Jonathan Fielding with 49 wickets, a best of 6 for 25 with 3 five wicket returns. The top wicket keeper in Division 2 was Harry Caton of East Lancashire with 21 catches and 7 stumpings, a total of 28 victims in only his second season in the league, The Division One award saw a new name on the Trophy, Lee Crabtree of Norden with a total of 32 dismissals, 25 caught and 7 stumped. The younger players are the future of the League and in recognition the League make awards to the batsman and bowler under 23 as at the 31st of August in the previous season, as per ECB age group guidelines, with the most runs and wickets during the season. This year the same player won both awards. Bradley Boddie of Rishton scored 504 runs with 3 fifties, and a top score of 97 he also took 37 wickets, a best of 6 for 11 and two five wicket performances, add to that 11 catches and the fact that he was also the captain of his Club, I don’t think anyone can argue that he deserves both awards and because of these records it was agreed that he was also the recipient of the Milton Lord Trophy for the U23 player of the season.
