48 continue with the match on the basis that (a) their opponent’s total can be passed within the overs to be received or (b) their opponents can be totally dismissed within the number of overs to be bowled. Thus it is possible for a definite result to be achieved in a match where the side batting last becomes entitled to receive less than 20 overs. The side batting second and electing to chase the 20 over target as calculated by the DLS method in fewer than 20 overs will lose the match if it is bowled out for less than the said target score or otherwise fails to achieve that score but will be entitled to bonus points as per Rule F3.8. The side bowling second electing to attempt to bowl out their opponents if fewer than 20 overs will lose the match if their opponents achieve the said target score or if it fails to bowl out their opponents but will be entitled to bonus points as per Rule F3.8 In either of the above circumstances, should there be a further suspension of play during this stage of the game it will end as an uncompleted game and 3/5 points will be awarded to each team. vii) If a start is delayed by weather a match shall not commence after 4.30pm (4:00 pm in September) (In second team matches 3:55 or 3:20 in September). The reason being that the time allowed will not permit the minimum 20 overs to be bowled. It will be declared a “no result”. viii) During a match: ground, weather and/or light conditions, injury/ illness to players/officials, may cause the deduction of overs from either/both innings. All calculations for the deduction of overs are based on “Time Lost”. For the purpose of this rule, all references to “Time Lost” are to be calculated as follows. “Time Lost” will be the number of minutes counted from the start of any interruption or delay, to the time agreed by the Umpires for play to start or re-start. This means that if play should start /re-start earlier or later than the designated time decided by the Umpires, the original calculation will remain unchanged. 3.4. In a game delayed or interrupted by ground and/or weather conditions providing time allows the side batting second to receive 20 or more overs (it being acknowledged that the Team may not need to receive the said number of overs to pass the first innings score and thereby win the match) the target score to be achieved by the side batting second shall be calculated on the Duckworth Lewis Stern method. The DLS par score shall be displayed on or near to the scoreboard throughout the second innings. 3.5. Any over not completed either through injury to the bowler or any other reason shall be completed by another bowler. Subject to the following numerical restrictions . Note that a part over bowled by a bowler will be considered as a full over in respect of that particular bowler’s allocation. Where an innings is interrupted, and overs are lost, the number of overs permitted to be bowled by an individual bowler will reduce as the available
