167 ANNIVERSARY DINNERS The League celebrated its “Diamond Jubilee” by holding a dinner at the Town Hall, Accrington, on the 19th September 1952. To commemorate the occasion, Mr. R. Alan Boddington, J.P., a member of the M.C.C. Committee presented on behalf of the President of the M.C.C. an engraving of the “Long Room” at Lord’s which was received on behalf of the League by the President, Mr. Harold Longworth. The League celebrated its Seventy-fifth Anniversary by holding a Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, on Wednesday the 18th October 1967. The Principal Guest was Mr. A.E.R. Gilligan, President of the M.C.C. and former Captain of England and Sussex. Other guests included representatives of the Lancashire County Cricket Club. The League celebrated its 80thAnniversary by a Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, on Thursday, 5th October 1972. The Principal Guest was, Mr. Aidan Crawley, M.B.E., President of the M.C.C. and other guests included representatives of the Lancashire County Cricket Club. The League celebrated its Eighty Fifth Anniversary by a Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, on Thursday, 6th October, 1977, when the Principal Guest was, Mr. Alick J. Leggat, Honorary Treasurer, Lancashire County C.C. Other guests included, David Lloyd, Lancashire and England and representatives from the Central Lancashire Cricket League. The League celebrated its 90thAnniversary with a Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, on Friday, 8th October 1982, when the Principal Guest was, Sir Anthony Tuke, Kt, President of the M.C.C. Other guests included, Mr. Johnny Wardle, Yorkshire and England and former professional with Nelson and Rishton and representatives from the League sponsors. Matthew Brown and Co., Martini and Rossi Ltd., and the Lancashire County Cricket Club. The League celebrated its Centenary with a series of events during 1992. The Centenary celebrations were opened by a Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel on Friday, 6th March. The principal guests were Mr. A. Leggat, President of Lancashire County Cricket Club and Mr. B. Bolus of Yorkshire, Nottingham and Derbyshire C.C.C’s and of England. Other guests included Mr. E. Shapland, Chief Executive of the League sponsors, The Marsden Building Society. The League held its 125 Anniversary Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton le Moors on Friday 31st March 2017. The speaker was Geoff Miller OBE, ex England Test Player and former Test selector. Mr Jack Simmons MBE was guest of honour.
