Sutcliffe 10 - 24 Todmorden v Accrington May 1st 1993 Ryan Hesketh 10 - 57 Lowerhouse v East Lancs June 15th 2003 Ian Cameron 10 - 22 Haslingden v Rishton INTERESTING ITEMS At theAnnual Meeting of the League, on February 28th, 1934, a pair of Silver Candlesticks, suitably inscribed, were presented by the President, on behalf of the League, to Mr. Eddie Paynter, to commemorate his brilliant performance with the M.C.C. 1932-33 touring team in the Test Match, England v. Australia. Mr Paynter learned his cricket with the Enfield club, with whom he played as an amateur in the League. In season 1939 five players with birth qualifications for Bacup C.C. were engaged by first-class counties, two with Lancashire, two with Worcestershire, and one with Northampton. Todmorden C.C. during Season 1949 had five players with birth qualifications for the Club playing in first-class County Cricket. D. Shackleton and H. Dawson with Hampshire. P. Greenwood with Lancashire. R. Horsfall with Essex and K. Fiddling with Northants. D. Shackleton also played for England in a Test Match against the West Indies in 1950. Mark Harvey of Burnley made his debut for Lancashire 1st team during the 1994 season. S.F. Barnes was Rishton’s pro in 1895 and then Professional for Rawtenstall in 1933. Roger Harper (Guyana and West Indies) served as professional at Bacup for 8 consecutive years, 1989-96. During this time, he scored 8600 leagues runs at an average of 57.71, with a highest score of 162 not out; he bowled 3409.4 overs, taking 596 wickets, average 14.57, with a best performance of 9-22. He also took 182 catches. In the Worsley Cup, he scored 1120 runs at an average of 70, highest score 104 not out; he bowled 398.4 overs, taking 71 wickets, average 14.6, with a best performance of 6-54, and took 18 catches. James Anderson of Burnley was chosen to represent England Under 17s in 1999. James Anderson of Burnley made his one day debut for Lancashire CCC in the final AXAgame of the season at Derby in 2001 and played in the three under 19s test matches for England v West Indies under 19s in 2001. Jonathon Clare of Burnley in his first season for Derbyshire CCC scored a century and took 5 wickets against Northamptonshire. David Ormerod of Accrington was named Wisden Club Cricketer of the Year in 2008.
