The quarter finals were then won by Darwen who won at Church, Clitheroe at home to Ramsbottom, Crompton who beat visiting Great Harwood and Norden who overcame Walsden at Scott Street. Finals day was drawn at Crompton and this year it actually got played on the scheduled date. Clitheroe overcame Norden in the first semi final and the Darwen knocked out the hosts in the second game. In the final Darwen batted first and substitute professional Atharwa Taide took control with a stunning 101 from 58 balls, 10 fours and 5 sixes and the innings was rounded off with 46 from 16 balls by Rob Cobley who hit 6 sixes. Clitheroe’s substitute Richard Levi then looked to emulate his opposite number and made 80 in 43 balls before he fell to a boundary catch by Taide and despite a fighting 46 from Sam Mulligan Darwen were winners of the Trophy for the first time by 24 runs. In the Worsley cup, the semi finals saw Clitheroe win a close match at Norden by just 7 runs despite a run a ball 55 from captain Hashum Malik. At Lowerhouse 41 from skipper Ben Heap guided the home team to 130 all out. Walsden then fell to 47/7 in reply but they were unable to recover and Lowerhouse earned a 43 run win. The JWLees Worsley Cup Final saw an impressive crowd at Chatburn Road where Clitheroe hosted Lowerhouse with the hosts inviting the visitors to bat first. Lowerhouse captain Ben Heap made 67, Jonny Whitehead 44 and substitute professional Ruhan Pretorious was undefeated on 79 in a total of 254/6 from their 50 overs. In reply Clitheroe progressed to 67/1 before losing top scorer Tom Lord for 40 and at 97/2 looked to be in the game. But despite all of their top 8 batsmen getting into double figures they fell from 157/4 to 180 all out, thanks to a man of the match winning 6 for 35, which included a hat trick, from Francois Haasbroek to record a 67 run victory for a fourth time win of the Cup for Lowerhouse. Burnley continued our recent success in the Lancashire cup by reaching the final at Old Trafford but were beaten by a strong Ormskirk outfit.
