LCL Handbook 2024 22 In the Junior Cup, the weather meant that the final wasn’t played until the 19th of August. The hosts, Todmorden had earned their place in the final posting a total of 244 for 6 in the first semi final with Tom Stansfield top scoring with 61 and John Henderson made 46. In reply Crompton were 102 for 8 when the rain prevented any further play on the day meaning the game would need to be completed mid week. Unfortunately the remaining batsmen would be unable to return to continue and the game was awarded as a win for Todmorden. The other semi between Norden and Burnley was delayed by 3 weeks until the 29th July when Burnley posted a total of 135 with Joey Marshall top scoring with 49, in reply Norden were 91 all out. The final was at Centre Vale and Burnley batted first making 144 all out, Steve Brunt top scoring with 39. In reply Todmorden lost early wickets and when man of the match Ishaq Khan joined the attack, taking 4 for 10 in 6 overs they were 100 all out to earn Burnley their third Junior Cup win. Next we move to the T20 competition, again we had four divisions of 6 on a geographical basis. Rochdale, Clitheroe, Burnley and Greenmount won their respective divisions and they were joined in the quarter finals by Littleborough, Norden, East Lancashire and Enfield. The quarter finals were then won by Burnley who won at home to East Lancs, Littleborough won at Clitheroe, Greenmount beat visitors Enfield and Rochdale overcame Norden at Redbrook Finals day was at Littleborough on Bank Holiday Monday with the hosts winning the first semi final against Rochdale with a remarkable fight back in a 4 run win. The second semi final was Burnley v Greenmount and Burnley posted a similar score to the first innings of the first semi final with 108 but there was no repeat of the first game with the Greenmount professional Jaques Snyman hitting 54 from 27 balls in a 9 wicket win. In the final, Greenmount won the toss and asked Littleborough to bat first and a total of 141 was posted . An early wicket gave Littleborough encouragement but the Professional who made 62 and man of the match Evan Williams who made 52 added 108 for the 2nd wicket and then skipper Travis Townsend saw them home with 2 overs to spare to record their first win in the competition. In the Worsley cup, the first semi final, at Lowerhouse, got under way on the reserve date with a late start and the hosts posted 216 all out from their 50 overs with Professional Ruan de Swardt top scoring with 95 and he was assisted in a partnership of 139 by Henri Cottam who made 60.
