Lancashire League Handbook 2024

LCL Handbook 2024 78 (c) Powerplay 3 – no more than five fielders shall be permitted outside this fielding restriction area. In an innings of 50 overs, these are overs 41 to 50 inclusive. 6.4 In circumstances when the number of overs of the batting team is reduced, the number of overs within each phase (Powerplay) of the innings shall be reduced in accordance with the table in Appendix 2. For the sake of clarity, it should be noted that the table shall apply to both the 1st and 2nd innings of the match. Appendix 2 6.5 If play is interrupted during an innings, overs are reduced and the table in Appendix 2 is applied, the Powerplay overs take immediate effect. For the avoidance of doubt this applies even if the interruption has occurred mid-over. 6.6 In the event of an infringement of 6.3 the umpire shall call No-ball. (a) For the remaining overs a minimum of 4 fielders (plus the bowler and wicket-keeper) must be within the field restriction marking at the instant of delivery. (b) In the event of an infringement of 6b or 6c the Umpire shall call No-Ball. (c) In addition to the One run penalty for a “No-Ball”, the delivery following a no-ball called for any form of no ball shall be a FREE HIT for the batter entitled to receive it (If the delivery for the free hit is not itself legitimate for any reason, then the next delivery shall also be deemed a free hit.) For any free hit, the batter can only be dismissed under the circumstances that apply for a no-ball. Field changes are not permitted for free hit deliveries unless there is a change of striker save that in all circumstances, any fielder within 15 yards of the striker may retreat to a position on the same line no more than 15 yards from the striker. When the ball is dead, the Umpire at the bowlers end shall signal a free hit (after repeating the appropriate No-Ball signal) by extending one arm straight upwards and moving it in a circular motion. 7. In the event of a tie then (1) the result shall be decided in favour of the side losing the least number of wickets, (2) if both sides have lost the same number of wickets the side with the higher overall scoring rate shall be the winner, (3) if the result cannot be decided by (1) or (2) the winner shall be the side with the higher score (a) after 40 overs, or if still equal (b) after 30 overs, or if still equal (c) after 20 overs, or if still equal (d) after 10 overs.
