Lancashire League Handbook 2025

LCL Handbook 2025 22 This is the first time Crompton have won the T20 competition. In the Worsley cup, the first semifinal was at Lowerhouse who posted 254 for 7 from their 48 overs built round a partnership of 115 between Professional Dan Salpietro who top scored with 108 and Tom Walker who made 54. In reply Haslingden skipper Matt Griffin lead the way with 96 but a middle order loss of 5 wickets for just 29 runs made it a tall order and in the end they fell short by 35 runs. The other semifinal was at Todmorden where Greenmount posted a total of 153 all out after deciding to bat first. Todmorden then knocked the required runs off in just 22 overs with professional Ed Moore and Harry Rickard making half centuries. The final was held at Lowerhouse in front of another record crowd where Todmorden decided to bat first and Ed Moore made virtually a run a ball 124 as they posted 221 all out. Lowerhouse replied with skipper Ben Heap leading the way with a half century, but the game was very much in the balance until man of the match Charlie Gansler came in with 69 still needed from 10 overs, making 38 from 30 balls. This is the fifth time Lowerhouse have won the Worsley Cup. In League Cricket, our second as an ECB Premier League, as mentioned previously, the first two weekends of the season were completely washed out. Little did we know at that stage that the final set of fixtures would also be washed out, someone commented“we finished like we started!” In Division Two, the eventual runners up, Walsden pushed the champions all the way throughout the season and won the same number of games - 16 but one more loss and one less no result and less batting bonus points made the difference in the end. Ramsbottom ended up 15 points clear. 772 runs from JJ Fielding led the way backed up by 706 from Tom Parton and 601 from skipper Harry Caton with 469 from Ben Pearson. 52 wickets from the professional backed up by 39 from Ishaq Hussain, 34 from Joe Holderness and Matt Burdaky and 28 victims for the skipper forged the success. The Premier League was a tight finish again it ended with just a three- point gap, and going into the last set of games we had the perfect winner takes all showdown with Darwen hosting reigning champions Burnley. But nobody told the weather. The leadership had changed places throughout the season and Burnley lead the way at the start of play with Darwen in 2nd place.
