Lancashire League Handbook 2026

LCL Handbook 2026 20 SECRETARY’S REPORT 2025 Thankfully 2025 got off to a far better start than 2024. The Ron Singleton Colne Trophy between Burnley and Lowerhouse benefitted from the good early season weather and Lowerhouse laid down how they intended to go on with an impressive 300 for 4 from their 50 overs with fifties from JonnyWhitehead and Dan Salpietro and a 92 ball 109 not out from TomWalker who then went on to take 3 wickets as didPaddy Martin as Burnley were dismissed for 132. In Second eleven cricket, starting with Division Two, Lowerhouse took the title with a 41 point margin over Greenmount who were runners up. Will Norcross was top run scorer with 628 runs, Keegan De Vries made 485, Declan Metcalfe 439 and skipper Declan Stansfield 366. Shaukat Ali had the most wickets with 43 and Oliver Williams 36. Division one, was contested by Burnley the winners from 2024 and Todmorden. Going into the final game either could still have won the title but the weather prevented results in both games . Both teams won 16 of their 22 but in the end the margin was just 5 points and a tie gained against Norden on the 6th July was probably the deciding factor. Skipper Ben Sutcliffe was leading run scorer with 714 runs, backed up by Kodi Sutcliffe with 265 and John Henderson made 235. Thomas Barker took 50 wickets and Ibrar Ali 32. It is Todmorden’s 11th 2nd eleven championship. In the Junior Cup,Norden had earned the right to host the final with a 92 run win against Ramsbottom. Their opponents, Burnley overcame the previous years runners up Littleborough by 5 wickets after bowling their opponents out for 123. Norden won the toss and elected to bat, making 167 mainly thanks to 50 from wicket keeper James O’Neill. In reply Burnley didn’t have it all their own way, and fell to 20 for 4 and then 94 for 7 before skipper Steve Brunt and keeper Leo Tomlinson put together a stand of 46 before Ishaq Khan joined Steve to finish the game with 14 not out to add to his 4 wickets in the first innings and earn him the man of the match award. This is the fourth time Burnley have won the Junior cup, In Third Eleven cricket we moved to 4 divisions with promotion and relegation as we now had 32 teams competing. In Division 4 Haslingden were runners up with 10 wins one tie and 2 defeats gaining 131 points. The winners were East Lancs with one more win
