THE NEXT GENERATION The sixteen year-old right handed batter and slow left arm bowler has been a regular in all formats for Burnley this season. He took 2-17 in the final group game at Nelson to secure a place in the quarter finals. The J.W. Lees T20 Competition has always been a great stage for young players to make a name for themselves. While the experienced professionals often grab the headlines, every season brings new talent ready to step up when it matters most. For this year’s Finals Day programme, Lancashire League’s Nigel Stockley has selected four young players - one from each club - who he believes are among the competition’s brightest prospects and ones to watch for the future. He hit an unbeaten 23 in the win at Rawtenstall in the group game and can also bowl handy slow left arm wrist spin. Fifteen year-old Mahdi has played an important role in getting Ramsbottom to Finals Day with his right-arm medium pace picking up 5 wickets, including 2-29 in the win over Norden in the group game. Bowling all rounder Zac has taken 5 wickets in helping Enfield through to Finals Day. The eighteen year-old is really making his mark this season, having taken 5-38 in his team’s Worsley Cup quarter final win at Haslingden.
