Alliance Midweek Cricket League Handbook 2013

23 Division B Caribbean and Kashmir surged back into Division A in emphatic style, finishing well above the rest of the Division. No other team challenged either all summer. Kashmir were undefeated, but lost 5 games to the rain. It was a similar story at the foot of the table, with Aviva winning just 2 games and bottom club Telecom winning but one. De la Salle’s batsman Chris Gibirdi had a tremendous year, hitting most runs in the league, with 356 at 59.3, including 4 half-centuries and the highest individual score in the Division with 72 not out against Ridgeway. Mention must be made of Mark Bull of Ridgeway, who hit 340 at 48.6. Chris Gibirdi capped a fine season by also capturing the most wickets in the Division, with 16 at 10.2 and the season’s best figures of 5-9 in the same game against Ridgeway that he hit 72 to give him the best all-round performance of the summer. Sharrow lost but one game – to Eckington early in the season. Eckingtonremained unbeaten until their very final fixture. This was away at close rivals Sharrow. Eckington were bundled out for just 63, which Sharrow reached for the loss of 6 wickets, thereby giving Sharrow the Division C title. At the foot of the table Brincliffe lost every game they played, but gained friends for the sheer enjoyment with which they play – we should all remember that cricket is, at heart, a game we play for fun. Lewis Staniforth of Eckington scored the most runs in the Division – 288 at an astonishing average of 96.0, whilst the highest individual innings was 97 from Anton Van Dam of Eckington against Hollinsend A. Young Archie Gleadhall, again of Eckington, was the leading wicket taker with 19 at 5.8 and therefore was also the leading wicket taker in the League. Sharrow’s Mohammed Rajib returned the best individual analysis, with 5- 13 against Woodhouse.
