Alliance Midweek Cricket League Handbook 2015

24 Premier Division Collegiate finally broke through fortress Attock and secured the Premier Division title, only the second time Attock have surrendered the top spot since 2002 and that to Collegiate in 2010. However Collegiate did suffer some last match nerves before making certain of the title off the very last ball of the last game of the summer. They won more games and lost fewer than any other team in the division and so were worthy winners. Waterworks and the defending champions Attock, plus Khan and Darnall all enjoyed good seasons. Kashmir struggled, but survive in the top flight, whilst Sheffield Friends were relegated. Individual honours go to Billy Root, who in 5 innings for the champions, hit a remarkable 319 runs at an average of over 106 with three 50s and a ton – the division highest score of 108 against Sheffield Friends. Mention must be made of the other centurion in the division, again a Collegiate player – Sam Webber making exactly 100 undefeated against Khan. Elsewhere Attock’s evergreen Nawaz Khan compiled 311 runs at 44. With restrictions on the number of overs a bowler can deliver, it’s now rare for an individual bowler to take more than 20 wickets in a season. No Premier Division bowler achieved this mark in 2014, the best return being from Khan’s Fide Mohammed, who took 17 wickets at 17.7. The best figures were a remarkable 6/9 in only 2 overs and 3 balls from Waterworks Vaidik Raj in their game with Kashmir.
