Alliance Midweek Cricket League Handbook 2015
29 GROUND NOMINATION Clubs shall nominate a ground on their Club Directory form which must be returned to the League Secretary before the 2nd Saturday in December. This ground must meet all the criteria outlined below. If any work is required to bring the ground up this standard it must be completed by the 2nd Saturday in December. Clubs are not allowed to change their nominated ground after the 2nd Saturday in December unless very exceptional circumstances prevail, for example the ground is being closed. Any change of ground must be authorised by the League Secretary. GROUND CRITERIA 1. Clubs shall play on a pitch which generally is well maintained and of even bounce. Our preference is for Premier Division clubs to play on grass pitches. However, artificial pitches are allowed but where a club nominates such a pitch, its quality must be approved by the Management Committee whose decision is final. 2. It shall have a hazard free outfield where the grass has been cut to an acceptable level. 3. Clubs shall have separate secure changing rooms for each team. 4. The changing accommodation shall also have drinking water, toilet and shower facilities. 5. There shall be a working scoreboard that is clearly visible from the wickets. 6. There shall be facilities for scorers to sit under cover adjacent to the scoreboard. 7. All boundaries shall be clearly defined and pitches freshly marked for the beginning of each game. 8. There shall be sightscreens at both ends either moveable or if static wide enough to cover bowlers operating on either side of the wicket. The top of the sightscreen shall be no less than 9ft from the ground. 9. There shall be an enclosed area, other than the teams changing rooms, in which umpires may change. PLAYING CRITERIA 10. Clubs shall provide a scorer and, that in the absence of an umpire appointed by the League, the club shall provide an umpire. 11. Where a club does not provide a scorer, a playing member of their side must score and the team shall field with one less player. 12, Clubs shall provide the opposition and umpire with team sheets prior to the umpires taking the field before the commencement of the game. Only named players may then play in that game. Criteria for Premier Division Clubs
