22 PAST LEAGUE WINNERS Promotion and relegation was introducted into the League in 1975. Prior to this, the League was played in regions, depending upon the geographical location of each clubs’ home ground. The winner of each division then played off for the Stones Challenge Cup. The Gunstone Cup was played for in the form of a knock-out cup competition. 1997 saw the introduction of the Premier Division, with the former Division B becoming Division A, Division C becoming Division B and so on.
