De La Salle run away with it D e La Salle ran away with the Divi- sion B title, win- ning 3 more games than second placed Millhouses Works and finishing a whopping 10 points clear at the top. Salle were only defeated once and that in the very last games of the season. Aviva finished just behind Works, with the bottom pair of Sharrow II and Lodgers some way adrift. Robert Barker of Mill- houses Works hit the highest score in the Division – 94 against Aviva, whilst the other Aviva run-machine – Craig Turner – hit the high- est aggregate with 292. In the bowling, Cameron Sin- clair’s 5-12 for De La Salle against Lodgers (inciden- tally his only wickets of the summer) were the best figures. The ever- green Sohail Mumtaz of Works badgered away to collect most wickets with 16. Their head to head records were identical – won one, lost one, one cancelled, so it came down to Caribbean Sports winning 11 games to Handsworth Jun- iors 10 victories to decide the champions. The top two finished well clear of Hollinsend Methodists II in third, who in turn were well ahead of Sheffield Transport, Brincliffe and Wood- house. Another tri- umph for Brincliffe, as for the second year running, they did not finish last… well done lads! Caribbean’s James Ahmed was both leading runs-scorer – 325 and hit the highest individual score – 109 not out against Brin- cliffe. The leading wicket taker was one of Hollinsend Methodists II crop of young talent, Isaac Mullins, who fetched 16 scalps, whilst the best figures were by another young Hollinsend player – Harry Bell with the remark- able figures of 2 overs, 6 wickets for 7 runs. The best figures throughout the League all summer.
