Sheffield Alliance Midweek Cricket League Handbook 2019

57 winner will be as from rule 7(b)(iii) onwards e. If a game is cancelled due to inclement weather, or cannot be finished due to inclement weather then a bowl out shall take place to determine the winner. f. All games shall be played using a Pink Ball in accordance with ECB guidelines. The League will provide each club with two new pink balls each season for the competition and these are the balls that should be used. However, if a ball is lost then the club is responsible for providing a replacement ball. A new or old ball may be used in the game but it must be a quartered leather ball. The League will provide additional balls for use on Finals Day. g. All clubs must provide a scorer. Where a club does not provide a scorer, a playing member of their side must score and the team shall field with one less player. The Play-Cricket scoring app must be used to score at the game (a club may keep a paper record of the traditional scorebook for their own records if they wish but this must not replace the scoring app). h. The team bowling first must complete their overs within 70 minutes of the match commencing unless the umpire(s) decide that outside influence prevented them from doing so. Where the team fails to complete the overs in 70 minutes then for each 10 minutes or part thereof (from the first complete minute after 70 minutes) they shall bat for one over less during their innings. If the umpires feel that the batting side have prevented the bowling side from completing their overs in the allotted time, then the umpires shall deduct 10 runs from the batting side for each 10 minutes or part thereof (from the first complete minute after the 70 minutes). 9. Bowl Outs a. Five players from each side will bowl two overarm deliveries each at a wicket (conforming to Law 8) from a wicket pitched at a distance of 22 yards (or the length of pitch applicable in the Competition) with, if practicable, bowling, popping and return creases marked (conforming to Law 9). The side, which bowls down the wicket (as defined in Law 28.1a) the most times, shall be the winner. If the scores are equal, the same players will bowl one ball each alternately to achieve a result on a ‘sudden death’basis. The following shall also apply in respect of bowl-outs: i. The same suitably acceptable ball (not a new one) will be used by both teams. If this all becomes wet, it may be changed subject to the umpires’ approval. ii. If a bowler bowls a No ball it will count as one of the two deliveries but will not count towards the score of the team. iii. If the original match has started, then the five cricketers nominated to take part in the bowl-out must be chosen from the eleven cricketers and 12th man selected to play in the match. If there has been no play in the original match (the toss has not taken place), the five cricketers may be selected from any of the players in the squad as registered on Play-Cricket. iv. Each side will appoint a wicket-keeper to stand behind the wicket but out of reach of the stumps. 10. Umpires Where possible, the League shall appoint umpires to all games and the fees and payment of such fees for rounds prior to the final day shall be in accordance with League Rules. The League will pay the Umpires appointed on the Finals day. Where the League cannot provide an umpire, normal League rules will apply. 11. Finals Day The Semi-Finals and Final shall be played on the same date in a format decided by the Management Committee. The winners of the two semi-finals shall contest the final.
