Strathmore Cricket Union Handbook 1998

44 Bill Scott Man of Meigle During 1997, Bill Scott became the first amateur batsman to score 10,000 runs in the Strathmore Union. Bill made his first team debut for Meigle at the age of 16 and he soon progressed to opening bat which he has maintained to this day, 27 seasons on. Bill's main attributes are concentration and determination which have seen him amass as many as 12 centuries and win the Union Batting Aggregate Trophy no fewer than seven times. Although he is a fair occasional bowler and has a safe pair of hands in the field, he will agree that scoring runs remains his main concern. His leg-side shots and powerful straight drives remain among the best seen throughout the Union and woe betide the bowler, umpire or batting partner who gets in the way. Unfortunately for any bowlers reading this, Bill has bought a new bat for use in the coming season and will be looking forward to plundering more runs from visiting attacks. Bill has been a great servant to Meigle and ambassador for Strathmore Union cricket. A model cricketer for any youngster to follow, Bill is still often first to nets on practice nights. Congratulations Bill, you've earned it. Here's to the next 10,000! PJCD
