Strathmore Cricket Union Handbook 2003
38 at the Beach Leisure Centre Aberdeen on 20 th April. This will be followed by outdoor matches for under 13’s an 15’s in Tayside at Doo’cot Park on the 4 th and 11 th May respectively, leading to Tayside versus Grampian/Highland matches away and home on 1 st and 8 th June for both under 13’s and 15’s. Courtesy of two keen and interested teachers at Webster’s High School, Kirriemuir, and the return of a certain Ian Cran to the area, it is great to see that we should have a kwik cricket team playing under the banner of Kirriemuir CC this season. This makes a full house for Angus with each club in the area now participating at this level. Together with teams from Blairgowrie, Rossie Priory and Forthill competing in scheduled matches on a Saturday morning, this is significant for the development of kids into the game of cricket. I would encourage all clubs in the Strathmore Union to adopt this approach at the earliest practical opportunity. Having experienced the services of Peter Drinnen at Forthill over the last nine seasons and with him now having taken up the role of Youth Cricket Development Manager for Scottish Cricket, through Clarence Parfitt his North District Officer, I know you will have the necessary commitment and support to get started. Please get in touch if you wish to discuss any points on this matter. Here is to an enjoyable and successful season blessed with the out of season weather we experienced last September.
