Tel: (01224) 822835 At the end of each over the fielding side should be ready to commence the next over when the umpires are in position. Guidance: The same fielder at deep fine leg at both ends is time wasting, as is the bowler with a long run-up who waits for the ball to be returned to him before returning to his mark. If the umpires are in position to commence the next over before the players, the captain of the fielding side or the umpire at the bowlers end may, in order to speed matter up, call “umpire ready”. Over Rate: Clubs are reminded of the existing Common Condition of the Union that all clubs attempt to maintain an over rate of 18 overs per hour. Guidance: this means 3mins.20secs. per over inclusive of change- round times. To achieve this most fielders will have to jog to their positions at the end of each over. Captains should hurry their slower moving players. Tea intervals should not normally exceed twenty minutes. The captains, in conjunction with the umpire and Scorer should note the time at which the first innings closed and ensure that their respective players take the field in order to make good an agreed time.
