Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union Handbook 2005

2 PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS Welcome once again to another season of cricket in the Dukes Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union. Unfortunately our first season as a combined league was more memorable for the poor weather and number of matches not fulfilled rather than the amount of cricket played in perfect conditions. Fingers will be crossed throughout the land that things improve on both counts this time round. I’ll whisper this very quietly in case the Union Treasurer hears me, but the Union is currently in a healthy financial position. As a result of this, we are in a position to offer financial assistance to clubs in a number of ventures. Those with any ideas should approach the management committee where they will be discussed. Another season and another shuffle of the league structure. Whist Dundee High School are no doubt planning on spending as little time as possible back in our ranks, we are saddened to bid farewell to Kingsway after a number of seasons of nomadic existence fighting against a lack of players. Doune too have stepped back from playing league cricket and have returned to playing friendlies. The re-shuffle means that a full 10 team structure will operate in both the top divisions, whilst the lower leagues will both operate with 8 teams. Electronic advances have not gone unnoticed within the Union. From this season it will be possible for teams to submit their match returns electronically. An approved spreadsheet will be issued to all points of contact as well as forwarding information. A union web site has also been discussed and this idea will be taken forward. Any ideas will be most welcome.
