163 CHAPTER ELEVEN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY Pedants may well argue that the 21st century really began in 2001, but for our purposes it began in April 2000, and not for the first or last time the Strathmore Union was faced with its problems, not least in the city of Aberdeen where Grammar School FPs were clearly struggling and were unable to fulfil quite a few of their fixtures. Several of their established players had left, and of course one of the features of the new age that we lived in was that there were not necessarily a steady line of youngsters available instantly to take their places. Aberdeen Grammar School FP would be compelled to seek an amalgamation with Gordonians who were themselves beginning to struggle. Once again, it was not a great season as far as the weather was concerned, but significantly both games between Inverurie and Dundee High School were played. The Premier Division Championship this year was a tie on Inverurie - Premier Division Champions 2000 Back:- Darren Connon, Souvik Banerjee, John Moore, George Hadden, Gary Coutts, Iain Fraser, Barry Craig, John Jessiman Middle:- Richie Lamb, Daniel Thorpe Front:- Alan Campbell, David Johnston, Sinclair Lamb (Capt), Tim Carlin, Jerry Bishop
