Strathmore Cricket Union: the first 90 years a history 1928-2018

187 CHAPTER TWELVE THE CLUBS Over the years, many clubs have graced the Strathmore Union, some have been members for long periods, others for a very short time and some have come, gone, come back and then gone again. Every one of them has left their mark on the Union and all deserve to be remembered for the cricket they played and the sportsmanship they demonstrated. The sheer number of clubs which have been members of the leagues precludes any meaningful individual histories being presented here. The clubs still in existence mostly have web sites to tell their story and hopefully the URL for these is shown in the pages which follow. For clubs which no longer exist, we have attempted to give a brief indication of where they came from and what happened to them when they left the Union. For each club, we have compiled a composite playing record by Tier to show some sort of context to their time in the Union. Clubs have had different sponsors names attached to them and have also used different nomenclature when playing in different Divisions, these have been ignored in compiling the playing records shown here. Thus, for example, the record for all the teams from Forfarshire who have played in the Union over the years appear under Forthill as that’s the name that they most commonly played under for the bulk of their Union existence.
