Strathmore Cricket Union: the first 90 years a history 1928-2018
35 confounded all expectations by winning comprehensively against Arbroath who were criticised by their supporters for not being adventurous enough in hitting only 90 in what seemed like ideal batting conditions. Only Bobby Sievwright junior with 42 showed anything like true form, but he was not supported, and then although his father got an early success, a few fielding errors (which went down extremely badly with RW Sievwright!) meant that Blairgowrie won with a good 25 minutes to spare. This had followed an earlier success against Meigle in the semi-final. Strathmore, for whom Halstead took 50 wickets at an average of 8.32 provided more of a challenge to Arbroath this year, but once again it was Sievwright and son. RG and RW Sievwright go out to bat
