We also had a great performance from Freddie Trueman at Headingley, the “ridge” at Lord’s and one or two disputes about “no balls”, and it was a fine summer. Once again, cricket thrived locally on the back of the TV showing of the game, and the summer was a good one with very few games off, after the customary miserable start to the season in a fairly wet May.
