Danish Cricket Yearbook 2019

Danish batting failed to keep up with the run rate and a mixture of pressure, poor shot selection and excellent spin bowling saw the Denmark team fall short finishing up with 9-172 off there required 33 overs. Hamid Shah continued his late run of good form with another skil- ful 52 and a fighting partnership at the end from Wahab Hashmi 14 not out and Anique Uddin 23 not out could not get Denmark over the line. Obviously disappointment at losing the game but a huge amount of positives to come out of not just this game but the tournament in whole. Against a very inexperien- ced side proved to a lot of people what they are capable of and with more fixtures, experience and developing another two quality batsmen plus availability of some of Denmark’s better players will see this Danish side a very competitive and dangerous team. A special mention to Lucky Malik who at 15 years of age made his senior international debut against a very dange- rous Qatar team full of big hitters. Unfortunately, Lucky Malik didn’t get to bat in the game and only bowled one over, but Lucky will no doubt be all the better for the experiences he gained on the tour and playing in the 2 warmup games, which against Canada he bowled out- standingly well.
