! 20 Runner8Up:!Jack!Riley The!best!player!in!the!net!this!year!has!been!a! student!from!nets!1!to!4!over!the!years,!this!being! his!final!year!with!us!and,!also!being!the!oldest!and! most!experienced!in!the!group,!certainly!had!the! other!lads!jumping!around!at!the!crease!!Being!a! medium!fast!left!arm!bowler,!he!has!the!ability!to! quickly!work!out!a!batsman’s!strengths!and! weaknesses.!He!listens!to!advice!on!line!and! direction!and!although!he!is!100!percent!on!the! attack,!he!remains!one!of!the!lads.!Over!the!last! two!seasons!his!batting!has!improved! considerably.!Learning!to!control!his!bottom!hand! on!all!front!foot!shots!has!made!him!into!a!genuine! allMrounder.!On!behalf!of!all!WCLS,!I!would!like!to! wish!him!every!success!in!his!future!career.! This!young!player!has!been!with!us!for!three! winters!now!and! has!always!tried! hard!to!put!into! practice!what!the! coaches!have!been! advising.!This! year,!however,! there!seems!to! have!been!greater! concentration! levels!with!far!less! distraction!and!a! greater! willingness!to! listen!and!learn,! which!has!led!to!this!player!bowling!more! accurately!and!playing!the!ball!much!straighter! when!batting.!This!youngster!needs!to!now!go! away!to!his!new!club!and!work!hard!on!the! coaching!points!we!have!tried!to!work!on!with!him! during!the!winter!and!I’m!sure!he!will!enjoy!his! cricket!more!and!score!more!runs!and!take! wickets!for!the!team.! The!Jack!Sokell!Award!Winner:! Taylor!Swift! ********************! ! The!Colleen!Morley!Award! This!is!a!very!likely!lad!who!has!the!potential!to! bowl!very!fast!one!day!but!he!needs!to!work!hard! to!achieve!this,!but!also!needs!to!decide!which! style!to!concentrate!on!at!the!moment.!!He!can! strike!the!ball!hard!but!needs!to!use!less!bottom! hand!as!well!as!move!his!feet!more!into!the!correct! positions.!!However,!having!said!this!he!has!the! potential!to!be!a!very!good!cricketer.!!He!works!as! hard!as!anyone!in!drills!and!he!listens!well.!!He!has! talent!but!his!work!ethic!will!surely!help!him!to! achieve!in!the!game.!!His!net!coach!says!he!has! been!working!with!this!lad!for!some!time!now!and! it!is!a!real!pleasure.!!Keep!up!the!good!work!and! play!well!this!year!young!man!as!I!am!sure!you! will.! The!winner!of!this!special!award!is!a!young!lad! who!is!a!true!team! man,!who!always! listens!to!what!the! coach!has!to!say,!is! grateful!for!all!kinds! of!advice!and!puts!it! into!practice.!!He! does!not!try!to!bowl! too!fast!and! concentrates!on! bowling!at!the! stumps.!!At!times!he! does!tend!to! struggle!a!little!on! confidence!but!he! just!needs!to!concentrate!and!stick!to!what!he!does! efficiently.!!His!batting!has!improved!so!much!this! winter!and!he!has!developed!a!good!defensive! shots.!!We!have!gradually!introduced!some! attacking!shots!and!I!am!sure!he!will!be!able!to! contribute!with!runs!this!season!with!this!new! attacking!confidence.!!My!advice,!and!certainly!an! area!to!work!on,!would!be!that!he!needs!to!get!into! line!a!little!more!when!batting.!!I!have!worked! hard!with!this!lad!to!work!on!a!game!plan!that!will! hopefully!help!him!gain!wickets!and!runs!this!year.!
