The Twelfth Man 2016

5 2015/16 MEMBERSHIP REPORT This is my second year of being the membership secretary of WCLS and I am gradually beginning to find my feet! Our membership rates remain the same and I believe we offer great value for money considering the quality of the magazine and the fantastic guests we have had at our meetings. I have updated the member list to the best of my ability and would hope that if I have missed out anyone or made spelling mistakes, please accept my apologies and I will amend for next year. This year we have had 15 new members and presently have a total of 287 members. Unfortunately, we have lost several members of the Society this year and we offer our condolences to their families. My e-mail address can be found at the end of my report so that members can contact me with any change of details. I would encourage all members to send me their e-mail address so I can further update our records. Finally, I would like to thank all the members for their continued support and for those who donate to the WCLS. Your support is valued. Ali Saad E-mail ali.saad@btinternet.com The Twelfth Man Editor talks to England’s new Media Manager, Yorkshire CCC’s own Danny Ruebin Following the promotion of Yorkshire’s assistant coach Paul Farbrace to the assistant coach of England another member of the Yorkshire family has left the club and gone to the ECB, Yorkshire’s Head of media and Marketing Danny Reuben. Danny’s new role at the ECB is England’s Men’s Team Media Manager, taking over from Rhian Evans. “To work at the ECB was an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse. Once I heard Rhian was leaving I thought that I could make a difference. After three or four interviews I managed to secure the job. My role with England is as media manager dealing with all aspects of the media and making sure that we are honest, transparent and try and give as much information and colour to the background of matches to the media to give to the public.” It’s important that the players articulate and promote themselves not as cricketers but as individuals to a wider audience. We need to get them out of the sports pages and into lifestyle magazines. We are always looking on how we can cricket away from the sports pages into other areas of the media to showcase their talents and personalities so we are looking at lifestyle media magazine programmes that we can we get them on, eg The One Show when the schedule will allow. Then they start to become household names across the country.”
